Advanced Practice Providers Section

WELCOME

The purpose of the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Section of the NCPHA is to promote more regular and effective communication and collaboration among advanced practice providers such as nurse practitioners (NPs), physician assistants (PAs) and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs) within public health.

Improved communication and collaboration are intended to foster partnerships among the advanced practice providers to protect and promote effective patient care for the residents of North Carolina by:

  • Being an expert voice, patient advocate, leader, and a resource for public health advanced nursing practice.
  • Contributing in a relatively equal measure to the identification of research priorities and evidence-based practices to improve patient care and public health outcomes.
  • Having well-defined, complimentary roles in the execution of priority research and quality improvement to be an instrument of change for the community.
  • Promoting the continuing training, education, and peer collaboration for public health advanced practice providers.
  • Identifying and supporting legislation that is favorable to public health and the promotion of public health for the North Carolina residents.
  • Promoting programs and/or services deemed necessary to protect, promote and enhance the public health of citizens of North Carolina.
