Nursing

Greetings from the NCPHA Nursing Section

As a Public Health Nurse, you understand what it means to be doing more with less. With each passing day, we find our jobs growing more complex, while at the same time our resources seem to diminish.

With the ongoing accreditation of local health departments and the NC Division of Public Health, we are being held to ever increasing accountability standards. It seems as though we are all performing many tasks at once, often in isolation from our colleagues.

Now, more than ever, we can gain perspective on our various roles and learn from each other as we all work toward providing the best possible service to our internal and external customers. As a Public Health Nurse in North Carolina, you realize the value of a network of professional colleagues to provide knowledge, support, encouragement, and assistance with the day-to-day dilemmas that we all face. The NCPHA Nursing Section is an excellent path to that network.

The Nursing Section Executive Committee has the following goals for the current year:

  • Utilizing current membership list as a communication tool.
  • Providing information to members on the most important public health and public health nursing topics that affect our practice.
  • Developing an on-line newsletter.
  • Providing a timely educational presentation at the NCPHA Annual Educational Conference.
  • Recognizing excellence in public health nursing practice with annual awards.
  • Providing a networking opportunity for members that includes learning, laughter, and the chance to making lasting friendships.
