Warm greetings from your Dental Health Section's Executive Committee.

We are finalizing our Section's plans for the 2007 NCPHA Annual Education Conference at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Research Triangle Park. The dental component will be on Thursday, September 26. We are thrilled that Dr. Ricardo Padilla, an Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist from UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, has agreed to present his informative and entertaining lecture, Oral Biphosphonates and Osteonecrosis.

Information regarding the business meeting and pre-registered luncheon will be forthcoming. We look forward to seeing many of our current and life members in the Raleigh area this year.

Purpose

The purpose of the Dental Health Section of the NCPHA shall be to bring together all persons interested in Dental Public Health including official agencies, volunteer agencies, schools, colleges, etc., for the purpose of fostering and stimulating:

  • Greater opportunities for cooperation with all health personnel;
  • The promotion of joint planning among all agencies and organizations concerned with Dental Public Health and;
  • A better understanding, integration and promotion of dental health for all people.

Awards

We would like to thank Sharon Boger, RDH Beckie Boulton, RDH, Nancy F. Brown, RDH and Angie Ellison, CDA for agreeing to serve as the Awards Committee.

The Dental Health Section offers the following awards:

  • Ernest A. Branch Award
  • Beckie S. Bowden Outstanding Dental Hygienist Award
  • George G. Dudney Award

At our 2006 conference in New Bern, Gary Kushner, DDS, MPH was the recipient of the Ernest A. Branch Award while Jennifer Robinson, RDH received the Becky Bowden Award. Congratulations to Gary and Jennifer.
